GRANDMA’S ‘DUMPLING’

May be put onto hot fruit or stew etc.

1 Tab clean dripping or margarine
1 egg
salt
heaped Tab SR flour – slightly more if egg is large

Make into a firm dough, flatten be-tween floured hands or roll into balls.
Drop into boiling fruit or onto a stew 10 minutes before ready to take up.

GRANDMA’S ICE CREAM

2 cups fresh milk
1 tsp vanilla
4 Tabs powdered milk
1/2 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp gelatine dissolved in 1/4 cup boiling water

Put powdered milk in bowl with salt, gradually add enough fresh milk to make a thick paste.
Add rest of milk and sugar, and gelatine then half freeze.
Take out and beat till double bulk, add vanilla – return to tray* and freeze.

*Rod doesn’t remember her making icecream at all. She did have her cheesecake tins, which she may have used for this?
