DATE LUNCHEONS

1 c SR
3/4 c sugar
1 egg
60g cornflour
90g butter
a little milk
hot water

DATE MIXTURE:  500g dates, 1/2 c sugar, a little lemon juice, enough hot water to make like jam

PASTRY:  Beat b&s to a cream, add egg and beat again. Add flour, cornflour & milk – mix to stiff dough. Cut dough in half. Roll out.

Put on greased paper oven slide, cover with date mixt and then cover with other half of dough.
Cook about 15 mins and when cold, cut into finger lengths.

CRISP BISCUITS (OLD FASHIONED)

250g butter
1 tsp treacle, warmed
1 sm tsp bicarb
2 c SR
1 c sugar
3 Tab boiling water
2 c rolled oats
1 tsp vanilla essence

Cream b&s, add treacle then v, SR & oats, then bicarb dissolved in water. Mix well.
Drop onto greased oven slide, bake mod oven about 10 mins until delicate brown.
